Position Description:

The Foodservice Equipment Distributors Association (FEDA) provides advocacy, service, and education for over 250 foodservice equipment dealers in the United States, Canada, Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. We are searching for a talented and innovative leader who will help the Association serve members at the highest level possible to help position them for growth and profitability.

FEDA is currently based in Elgin, Illinois with an anticipated national office relocation to the Chicago/Rosemont, Illinois area planned for January 2019. The Association seeks candidates for the following position, to be filled by October 2017.


  • Plan and manage membership meetings, conferences and other events.
  • Plan and manage board, committee and council meetings.
  • Interact with senior management and members to develop meeting and event strategies, goals and outcomes.
  • Provide management oversight and direction for onsite and offsite vendors who provide support for meeting planning.
  • Provide and ensure high quality, effective onsite support of programs that meets the needs of the association.
  • Manage complex meeting and convention requirements including but not limited to site inspections and selection, technology requirements, digital (Engagement Management Software-based) meeting and event communications and related online registration, air and ground travel, food and beverage requirements, amenity selection, billing reconciliation and program evaluations.
  • Develop and manage detailed program budgets and control documents and tracking information for every program.
  • Complete all required meeting-related documents and follow association policies and procedures to ensure compliance and continuity of all programs.
  • Help control risks associated with attrition, cancellation, and aggregate spend by supplying report updates as needed.


  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality or equivalent
  • 3+ years of successful direct work experience in meeting, conference, or special event planning and management
  • Certified Meeting Planner or qualified to take CMP exam, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience working with associations preferred
  • Strong business acumen and financial management skills
  • Innovative and strategic thinking
  • Exceptionally strong technology skills; proficiency in using Customer Management or Engagement Management Software preferred
  • Professional, responsive, service-oriented approach to working with member companies
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with members, colleagues, and industry contacts
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time
  • Ability to travel; maximum 10%
  • Some virtual work options available.
